Are we breathing plastic?
Plastics are everywhere – our clothes, the fridge, food packaging, furniture, the ocean, and now it’s even in the air we breathe.
Tiny plastic particles called microplastics created through the breakdown of larger plastic items or through the release of small plastic particles in products like cosmetics, cleaning agents, and synthetic textiles, travel through wind and air currents and are transported into the atmosphere.
While clearly invisible to the naked eye, the spread of microplastics is seen to be a big problem for us, especially those living in areas with high plastic concentrations.
