Is Solar Power Accessible to Filipinos?

Will the renewable energy dominate the Energy Mix in the Philippines? The Philippine government is actively promoting renewable energy, having awarded 100+ contracts in the past year. Their goal is 100% electrification by 2028, aiming for 35% renewable energy in the power mix by 2030, and 50% by 2040. Currently, renewable energy contributes 29% to the country's energy mix with a capacity to produce 8,150 megawatts of electricity.

A few years ago, solar panels were introduced to the market as a cheaper (in the very long run) and cleaner source of electricity. Back then, while the promise of solar energy was attractive, it faced adoption challenges due to initial costs. Now, with more affordable options available and better technologies, there's a growing push for cheaper and cleaner energy, making solar power a good-value investment in the Philippines.

The implications of renewable energy create decentralized energy sources for an archipelagic nation. Starlink opened the doors for decentralized internet access for Filipinos. Will renewable decentralized tech be next?
